Pour oil in Dutch oven.
Add steak and brown on both sides. Turn down on low heat.
Cover.
Cook for 1 hour until tender. Check during cooking and keep water enough to cover meat while cooking.
Use your favorite steak sauce, ketchup or barbecue sauce to make a thin gravy.
Cook rice to serve steak over.

Cut round steak into serving size pieces and place in 5-quart crock-pot.\tPlace in layers with onion and season with salt and pepper.
Mix mushroom soup and milk in a bowl and spread evenly over top. Start crock-pot on high for about an hour, then turn to low for 7 to 8 hours.
Serve with mashed potatoes and a salad. This is delicious.\t(If you have a smaller crock-pot, just cut recipe in half.)

Combine onion salt, black pepper and flour.
Cut Swiss steak into 6 serving size pieces.
Pound flour mixture into each side of Swiss steak.
Brown in oil.
Arrange in single layer in baking dish.

Brown the steak in the butter.
Add onion, tomato puree and some water and bouillon.
Cover and simmer 1 hour over low heat, or bake 1 hour at 250 degrees fahrenheit in a preheated oven.
Add sour cream and mix well.
Simmer 1/2 hour longer.

Brown in skillet with oil.
Put in crock-pot or Dutch oven.
Add vegetables; cook on medium in crock-pot for about 6 to 8 hours or in Dutch oven at 375\u00b0 until meat is tender.
Try this over rice!

Swiss Steak

Dredge meat (both sides) with flour, salt and pepper.
Melt about 4 tablespoons shortening in Dutch oven.
Brown meat on both sides.
Remove meat from pan.
Add 3 to 4 tablespoons flour; mix well.
Add more shortening if need be to make a thin paste.
Add 3 to 4 cups cool water and coffee.
Stir until begins to thicken; add onion, mushrooms and garlic.
Should have a fairly thin gravy.
Add meat; cover and place in a 350\u00b0 oven.
Bake for 3 to 3 1/2 hours until done.

Place vegetables over steak; pour tomatoes, tomato sauce, water and Worcestershire over all.
Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2- 2 hours, or until meat is tender.
Serve with sauce spooned over the mashed potatoes.

Add chopped onion (cut in medium size pieces), celery and carrots.
Mix remaining ingredients.
Add to steak.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours or until tender.

Swiss Steak Pot Pie

Break up Swiss steaks in 1-inch pieces.
Saute onion slightly. Mix all ingredients together and put into pie shell.
Cook in oven at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until pie shell is done.

Oven Barbecued Swiss Steak

Mix flour, salt and pepper; coat steak and brown in hot oil in ovenproof Dutch oven.
Break up canned tomatoes and mix remaining ingredients except onion.
Pour over steak; add salt and pepper if needed and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
Add onion; cover and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Serve with hot noodles or rice.
