Sweet And Sour Pork

Place pork, water, ginger and soy in a pan; bring to a boil over high heat.
Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain and let cool.
Prepare Sweet-Sour Sauce and set aside.

Quick Sweet-Sour Pork

Coat pork cubes with flour, salt and pepper; mix.
Stir-fry with peanut oil for 4 to 5 minutes until brown.
Add carrots; stir-fry 1 to 2 minutes.
Cover for 1 minute.
Add green pepper; stir-fry 1 minute.
Cover for 1 minute.
Add pineapple chunks and sweet-sour sauce.
Cover and simmer on low until sauce is heated. Serve over white rice.

Sweet-Sour Meat Balls

Cut bread in cubes.
Soak in a little cold water until soft. Squeeze out water.
Combine with remaining ingredients except Sweet-Sour Sauce.
Shape in balls the size of walnuts.
Place in jelly roll pan (or brown in skillet containing a little hot fat.) Bake in a very hot oven (450\u00b0) for 15 to 18 minutes.
Place balls in Sweet-Sour Sauce and simmer 10 minutes.
If balls are made ahead, add sauce to them and heat in the oven.
Makes about 36 meat balls, 8 to 9 servings.

Sweet & Sour Meatballs

Mix sweet & sour sauce and bell peppers together in slow cooker.
Pour thawed meatballs in slow cooker.
Stir to coat meatballs with sauce and simmer on low heat for about 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Turkey Patty With Sweet Sour Pineapple Sauce

Mix together turkey, water chestnuts, garlic and soy sauce in medium bowl.
Shape into 4 one-half inch thick patties.
Heat oil in skillet over medium heat.
Add patties and cook 10 to 12 minutes or until no longer pink, turning once.
Serve with Sweet Sour Pineapple Sauce.

Microwave Sweet-Sour Turkey Loaves

In 1 3/4-quart casserole, combine sweet-sour sauce, 1/4 cup catsup, green pepper and peaches.
Set mixture aside.
In medium mixing bowl, combine egg, bread crumbs, 1 tablespoon catsup, soy sauce, ginger, garlic powder and pepper.
Add turkey and mix well. Shape into 4 loaves.
Arrange loaves in casserole.
Cook 8 to 10 minutes on High power, covered, until done.
Turn casserole 1/2 turn once.

Sweet-Sour Beets

If you are using fresh beets, scrub well and cut off tops, leaving about an inch of stem on the beets.
Cook in boiling water until tender, 45 to 60 minutes, depending upon size and age. Drain, saving 1/3 cup cooking liquid.
Peel and dice.

Put drained beets into 1 1/2-quart casserole with cover.
Mix sugar and flour.
Add water slowly; stir so that flour does not lump.
Pour over beets.
Put cover on, place in a 350\u00b0 oven and bake for 45 minutes.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.

Quick Sweet-Sour Beets

Drain beets, reserving liquid.
In saucepan, combine liquid, water, sugar, vinegar and salt.
Add drained beets (1 pound). They may be cut in half or quartered.
Bring to a boil and simmer for a few minutes.
Chill for several hours; best if 24 hours. Will keep in refrigerator for two weeks.
Serves 4 to 6.

Sweet-Sour Beets

Combine sugar, vinegar, beet juice, bay leaves and cloves in a saucepan.
Bring mixture to a boil, then pour over onions and beets.
Cover and chill.
Onions take on the beet color and the mixture keeps well.

Combine first 5 ingredients.
Mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape meat mixture into 30 balls.
Roll in flour and brown in shortening.
Drain excess fat.
Prepare Sweet-Sour Sauce.
Pour over meat balls and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.

Mandarin Salad

Place lettuce and romaine in plastic bag; add celery and onions.
Pour Sweet-Sour Dressing into bag; add orange segments. Close bag tightly and shake until all of the contents are coated. Add almonds and shake.

Meat Loaf

Mix together and bake at 350\u00b0 while beginning to make Sweet-Sour Sauce.

Crunch Romaine Toss

Brown walnuts and noodles in 325 degrees for 10 minutes for crunchy.
Cool on paper towels.
Combine noodles and walnuts with broccoli, romaine and onions.
Pour Sweet & Sour Dressing over and toss to coat well.

Sweet And Sour Chicken (Crock-Pot)

In crock-pot, place carrots, green pepper and onion. Top with chicken breasts. Sprinkle with salt. Pour sweet-sour sauce and pineapple chunks over all. Cover. Cook on low 7 to 8 hours or high 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Remove chicken, keeping warm. Blend cornstarch and water. Stir into juices in crock-pot. Cover; cook on high 10 to 15 minutes. Season to taste. Serve over hot cooked rice.

Blend cornstarch and soy sauce in small bowl; stir in pork until well coated.
Brown pork in hot oil in Dutch oven or large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in 1/4 cup water. Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir carrots, onion, bell pepper and sweet & sour sauce into pork mixture. Simmer, covered, 10 minutes longer, stirring frequently.
Add pineapple chunks; cook and stir only until pineapple is heated through.

Crock Pot Sweet & Sour Chicken

In slow cooker, place carrots, celery, green pepper and onion. Top with chicken breasts. Sprinkle with salt. Pour sweet-sour sauce and pineapple chunks over all. Cover. Cook on low 7 to 8 hours or high 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
Remove chicken, keeping it warm. Blend cornstarch and water, stir into juices in slow cooker/Crock Pot. Cover; cook on high 10 to 15 minutes or until thickened. Season to taste and serve over rice.

Crock-Pot Sweet & Sour Tofu

Press moisture out of the tofu and cut into cubes. Place tofu in a gallon-sized plastic bag with the corn starch. Shake bag to coat tofu.
Fry tofu in vegetable oil over medium heat until it has a crunchy coating, about 15 minutes on each side.
Put tofu and vegetables into the Crock-Pot.
Pour bottle of sweet & sour sauce over the top. Add a tablespoon of water to the \"empty\" jar. Shake and pour over the top of the tofu & vegetables. Stir to combine.
Cover and cook on low for 3 hours.
