Sweet-Sour Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (1 lb. size) cans small whole beets, drained
    2 onions, sliced thin
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. beet juice
    2 bay leaves
    1 few whole cloves
Preparation
    Combine sugar, vinegar, beet juice, bay leaves and cloves in a saucepan.
    Bring mixture to a boil, then pour over onions and beets.
    Cover and chill.
    Onions take on the beet color and the mixture keeps well.
