Add liquid mixture to make stiff dough.
Divide into 8 even balls.
Press into round cake pans and bake at 350\u00b0 for about 20 minutes.
Stack with applesauce or apple butter.

Cream butter and sugar together.
Add eggs; add molasses. Sift flour, spices and salt together.
Add to mixture.
Put soda in boiling water and add to batter, beating constantly by hand. Pour into 4 greased and floured 9-inch pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until done, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Cool and stack together with applesauce between the layers.

Mom'S Old Fashioned Molasses Stack Cake

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and beat well.
Add lemon extract and blend.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture.
Add molasses, blending well.
(Mommy never used nuts or candied fruit in her cakes, but these can be added if desired, also raisins.)
Bake in 4 or 5 small round cake pans at 325\u00b0 for about 1 1/2 hours or until a clean broom straw inserted into the middle of cake comes out clean.

Add eggs and mix well. Add milk, molasses and nutmeg.
Beat for 3 minutes.
Add flour gradually until too thick to mix with mixer.
Using a spoon stir until stiff enough to pour out onto floured board.

Roll out thin.
Cut with a fluted pie pan.
Place layers in cake pan.
Will make 7 layers.

Use your favorite white cake recipe or use 1 white cake mix and bake according to instructions in 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
Let cool 10 to 15 minutes.
Poke holes in the cake with a toothpick, fork tines, etc.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

Melt butter, brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of pineapple juice in a saucepan.
Spray sides and bottom of a cake pan.
Pour brown sugar mixture into it.
Arrange pineapple rings and cherries on top.
Prepare cake mix according to directions on package, or make your favorite cake recipe and pour over mixture in cake pan.
