Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring frequently.

Brown the cubed beef in the olive oil, then add the onions and garlic.
Cook for 3 minutes.
Add the cumin, chili powder and salt; cook another minute.
Add the picante sauce, smoked sausage (which has been cut into pieces) and the quartered tomatoes to the beef mixture.
Cook for 45 minutes.
Add cut up potatoes and pepper; cook for another 30 minutes, or until potatoes are done. Serves 4.
