Sugared Popcorn

Combine sugar, butter and water in large, heavy pot. Bring to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue to cook until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture becomes syrupy, 4 to 5 minutes. Remove pot from heat. Add the popcorn to the pot. Stir to coat popcorn evenly with sugar mixture. Turn coated popcorn out in thin layer onto sheet of wax paper or parchment paper. Let popcorn cool for about 10 minutes. Serve in a basket or for a festive touch, in individual paper cones.

Sugared Popcorn

Combine in a small bowl popcorn, water and food coloring, if used.
In 3-quart saucepan, melt shortening.
Stir sugar into shortening.
Add popcorn and water to this.
Stir with wooden spoon constantly until popcorn starts to pop.
Cover, shaking constantly.
Pop quickly over high heat.
At the peak of popping, remove from heat to prevent sugar from burning.
Pour onto cookie sheet.
When cool enough to handle, break apart pieces.
Store in sealed container.
Makes approximately 5 cups.

Sugared Popcorn

Combine popcorn and 1/4 cup water; set aside.
In a 3-quart saucepan, heat oil.
Stir sugar into hot oil.
Add popcorn and water mixture; cover.
Pop the corn quickly over high heat, shaking pan constantly.
At the end of the peak of popcorn popping, remove pan from heat to prevent sugar from burning. Makes about 6 cups.

Sugared Popcorn

Pop a large bowl of popcorn and set aside. Mix butter, sugar and syrup. Put burner on medium heat, and when mixture starts to melt and it begins to boil, time for 6 minutes. When time is up, add baking soda. Stir until mixture turns smooth. If adding peanuts, mix them with the popcorn before pouring mixture over the popcorn. Mix well.

Sugared Popcorn

Pop popcorn in 1/4 cup of oil.
Be careful not to burn.
When you are through popping corn, pick out all unpopped kernels (this takes a little time, but it's worth it).
Put corn in a very large pot or bowl.
In a medium pot, combine water, sugar and 3 or 4 drops of food coloring.
Boil this until the sugar is dissolved. Add vinegar; cook until it comes to a hard boil (250\u00b0).
Very carefully pour mixture, little by little, over popcorn, stirring often.
Let cool, then break up.

Remove all unpopped kernels from popcorn.
Place popcorn in a 12 x 17-inch baking pan.
Combine brown sugar, butter, syrup and salt in 1 1/2-quart saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Cook for 5 minutes longer.
Do not stir. Remove from heat.
Stir in soda and vanilla.
Pour over popcorn, stirring gently.
Bake for 10 minutes longer.
Remove to large bowl.
Cool.

Pour over the popcorn and put in a 200\u00b0 oven for 1 hour.
