Sugared Popcorn - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/3 c. popcorn
3 Tbsp. shortening
1/4 c. water
1/3 c. sugar
food coloring (optional)
Preparation

Combine in a small bowl popcorn, water and food coloring, if used.
In 3-quart saucepan, melt shortening.
Stir sugar into shortening.
Add popcorn and water to this.
Stir with wooden spoon constantly until popcorn starts to pop.
Cover, shaking constantly.
Pop quickly over high heat.
At the peak of popping, remove from heat to prevent sugar from burning.
Pour onto cookie sheet.
When cool enough to handle, break apart pieces.
Store in sealed container.
Makes approximately 5 cups.
