For steak: Melt butter & oil in an

Cook cube steak in oil, turning once, until

STEAK:
Combine

Pat dry with paper towel.
Mix flour, salt and pepper in flat dish.
Put oil in large skillet over medium-high heat.
Coat each piece of steak with flour mixture.
Place in hot oil.
Brown on each side. Remove from skillet to small roaster or baking dish.
Add 2 cups water to skillet.
Let it come to boil.
Pour over steak.
Cover with lid or foil.
Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 50 to 60 minutes, depending on thickness of steak.
This is real tender.
Combine the onion soup and hot water in bowl.
Brown the steak in the oil on both sides.
Remove the steak from skillet.
Add flour and stir.
Add the onion soup mix.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Put the steak back into the skillet.
Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Salt and pepper cubed steak.
Dredge in flour.
Brown steak in hot oil in frying pan.
Remove to large dish with cover that can be put in oven.
Saute onion soup mix and fresh onion in frying pan used to brown steak until onion is soft.
Add flour and continue to saute and stir until flour is dark brown.
Add water to make as much gravy as desired.
Pour gravy over steak and cover.
Place in 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
