Sprinkle roast with garlic salt, and pepper. Brown on all sides in oil in saucepan, and place in slow cooker.
Saute garlic cloves, and onion in meat drippings in saucepan.
Add 1 cup water, bouillon cube, and coffee. Cook over low heat for several minutes, stirring until drippings loosen, pour this over meat in cooker.
Add bay leaf.
Cover, cook on low 8-10 hours, or until very tender.
Remove bay leaf, and discard.

Combine sugar and flour in paper or plastic bag.
Shake meat in bag to coat.
Brown in hot shortening.
Add seasoning, tomatoes and broth.
Cover and simmer about 2 hours or until meat is tender.
Stir in prepared bite-sized vegetables, except peas. Cook 30 minutes, covered.
Add peas and continue cooking about 15 minutes.
Water may be added if needed during the 2 hour cooking. Yields 8 to 10 servings.

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook and drain pasta as directed on package.
While pasta is cooking, brown sausage in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Drain.
Mix pasta, sausage and remaining ingredients except cheese in ungreased 2 1/2-quart casserole.

Chuck Wagon Salad

Cook pasta in boiling water until al dente. Drain.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine pasta, beef, onion, and green pepper. Mix well. Stir together barbecue sauce and prepared mustard, and mix into beef mixture.
Serve beef mixture over mixed greens, and garnish with tomatoes.

Beat egg; add oil and milk.
Add dry ingredients.
Spread bottom and sides of greased 9-inch pie pan.
Reserve 2 wieners. Cut others in 1/2-inch slices.
Combine with rest of ingredients. Spoon into center of dough in pie pan.
Cut 2 wieners lengthwise, then crosswise.
Arrange, spoke fashion, skin side up, on bean mixture.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 375\u00b0.
Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting into wedges.

In a 2-quart casserole or bean pot, combine beans, tomato sauce, onion, catsup, brown sugar and seasonings. Bury bacon in beans. Bake, uncovered, in slow oven (300\u00b0) 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Toward end of cooking time, fork bacon to top. Center with drained, cooked or canned onions. Makes 6 servings.

Cook carrots in a 2-quart microwave bowl.
Add 1/2 cup water and cook on High in microwave for 8 minutes.
(Stir halfway through cook time.)
Drain carrots and add butter and onions, cooking for 50 seconds on High.
Add all other ingredients and cook an additional 4 minutes, stirring halfway through.

Heat oil in deep skillet. Saute onions and peppers until translucent. Remove with slotted spoon. Crumble ground beef. Brown with garlic in skillet. Return onion and pepper to skillet. Add remaining ingredients and bring to gentle simmer. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Add water, if needed, to prevent sticking.
