For the raisin syrup: Take a glass bowl
MPORTANT let set on counter for at least 1 hour.
Combine water and raisins
and boil for 5 minutes.
Cool. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and ; beat well.
Add vanilla and chopped nuts to cooled raisin mixture.
Sift flour, baking powder, soda salt and spices.
Add to raisin mixture and blend.
Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.
Bake in hot 350 degrees oven for 15 minutes.
Yields:
60 cookies.
Add water to raisins.
Boil for 5 minutes.
Cool.
Cream shortening with sugar.
Add eggs and beat well.
Add vanilla and cooled raisin mixture.
Add nuts.

Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheets. Bake in preheated 400\u00b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 7 dozen cookies.
Sift dry ingredients. Add water to raisins and boil 5 minutes or until liquid has decreased to 1/2 cup. Cool. Cream shortening; add sugar and blend well.
Add eggs, one at a time, to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
Add vanilla, nuts and cooled raisin mixture.
Add sifted dry ingredients and blend well. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
Cook raisins and water for 5 minutes and let cool.
I use the microwave oven and just bring it to a boil.

Boil water and raisins for 5 minutes.
Cool, then add vanilla and set aside.

Add eggs, vanilla and cooled raisins mixture.
Add sifted dry ingredients and nuts.
Mix well. Chill.
Drop by spoonfuls on a greased and floured baking sheet. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 6 dozen soft puffy cookies.
Boil raisins in water for 5 minutes; cool.
