Jumbo Raisin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. seedless raisins
    1 c. water
    1 c. shortening (Crisco)
    2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    2 c. sugar
    3 beaten eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Boil raisins and 1 cup of water for 5 minutes, leaving 1/2 cup liquid left.
    Let cool.
    Add soda.
    Blend shortening with salt, spices and sugar until fluffy.
    Add eggs, vanilla and cooled raisins mixture.
    Add sifted dry ingredients and nuts.
    Mix well. Chill.
    Drop by spoonfuls on a greased and floured baking sheet. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
    Makes 6 dozen soft puffy cookies.
