In a 2 1/2-quart baking dish, combine first 5 ingredients. Bake at 325\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours, stirring twice during first hour and several times during remaining time.

Serve warm or cold with cream, if desired.

Old Fashion Berry Cobbler

Cream butter and sugar together, then add milk on slow speed.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to wet a couple of tablespoon at a time, until smooth.
Batter should be very thick paste, turn out into greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan, put berries on top of batter, sprinkle with remaining 1 1/2 cups sugar, and pour 2 1/2 cups boiling water over top, dot with remaining 3 tbsp butter.
Bake at 425\u00b0F for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Split layers (if using cake pans) and put 1 teaspoon cloves and 2/3 cup sugar with applesauce.
Spread between layers.

Cook potatoes; cool, peel and slice.
Fry bacon until golden brown.
Take bacon out of pan; add butter to bacon grease.
Stir in flour until smooth.
Mix vinegar and water together in a bowl, then slowly add to flour mixture.

Pour over potatoes with chopped onions and crumbled bacon. Stir gently until all mixed together.
Serve.

Cream together the butter or margarine, Crisco, sugar and eggs (add eggs 1 at a time).
Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, alternately with milk and vanilla, beginning and ending with flour.
Mix well with hand mixer.
Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 325\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
Cool in pan.

Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Cream the margarine with sugar and egg.
Add yeast and water to the mixture.

Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition.
Mix dry ingredients together and add to sugar mixture, mixing well.
Stir in fig preserves and grated orange.
Add remaining ingredients and mix together.
Grandma always used her hands to mix it together real good.
Bake in a greased tube pan in a 300\u00b0 oven for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
