Combine dates and water in a small saucepan.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Butter a 9\" square cake pan.
Put dates, butter and baking soda in a bowl. Carefully pour boiling water over the dates; let cool.
Meanwhile, mix flour and baking powder. In a separate bowl, mix egg and vanilla.
When the date mixture is cool, stir in egg mixture and then stir in flour mixture.
Stir in nuts and cherries.
Pour batter into the prepared pan; bake for about 25-30 minutes.
Pour soda mixture over dates.
Let cool.
Cream butter and sugar; add egg, salt and vanilla.
Next add dates and their liquid and nuts.
Sift flour with cream of tartar and beat this in last. Add cherries.
The batter will be quite thin.
Pour into greased glass baking dish; bake at 300\u00b0 for an hour or until done.
Serve in sherbet glasses with a spoonful of whipped cream or any cake sauce.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together.
Pour over nuts and dates.
Mix.
Melt butter. Cool. Beat egg yolks and mix with butter.
Pour over flour and nut mixture.
Mix well. Beat egg whites. Fold in mixture gently.
Pour in tube pan (sprayed with Pam).
Bake 55 minutes at 325\u00b0.
Mix together the dates, nuts, saltines and sugar.
Beat 3 egg whites until stiff.
Add 1 teaspoon almond flavoring.
Blend with the date and nut mixture.
Pour in well buttered pie dish.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool and top with whipped cream. Cool Whip may be substituted.

Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat well.
Add the spices, raisins and nut meats to flour. Stir the soda in the applesauce.
Combine the ingredients and turn into greased and floured tube pan.
Bake in a slow oven for an hour.

Chill in icebox.
Divide batter into 2 parts.
Roll and spread with date and nut mixture.
Store in icebox overnight.
Slice and bake 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.

Combine three-quarters of the melted chocolate, cookies and fruit and nut mix in a medium bowl. Spoon into candy cups.
Using a fork, drizzle with remaining chocolate. Refrigerate for 15-20 mins until chocolate is firm.
