FOR THE NOODLES.
While preparing the cabbage cook noodels according to package
Cut cabbage and boil until tender.
Boil noodles until tender. In a frying pan, saute onions in butter.
When onions are tender, add cabbage and noodles.
Keep stirring and adding butter, if needed, so it doesn't stick.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Cook noodles and drain.
Cook shredded cabbage for 5 minutes and drain.
Saute onions until they are transparent.
Place cabbage, wide noodles and sauteed onions together in a large pan and mix.
Cover pan and allow cabbage and noodles to simmer for a few minutes, until done.
Mix salt and cabbage.
Let stand 30 minutes.
Squeeze out liquid.
In skillet, saute onion in butter until soft and translucent.
Add cabbage.
Mix well and saute about 45 minutes, stirring often.
Add sugar and pepper.
Mix well.
In another pan, cook noodles according to package directions.
Drain well and blend cabbage and noodles and serve.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
Bring 3 quarts water to boil in large pot.
Add cabbage and noodles and return to boil.
Boil 6 to 8 minutes until both are tender.
Remove from heat and reserve 3/4 cup cooking liquid. Pour cabbage-noodle mixture in colander to drain.
Return reserved cooking liquid to pot.
Add butter, poppy seed, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat until butter melts.
Add cabbage and noodles and toss to mix and coat.
Serve immediately.
