Broth: In a medium-sized pot, saute the onion, ginger, and chilli in 1 tablespoon of olive oil until the onion is transparent. Add water and all additional ingredients and let simmer for 10 to 30 minutes (depending on the time available) while you prepare the veggies.

Crock Pot Artichoke Beef Stew

Combine the flour, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl or resealable plastic bag.
Add beef and toss to coat.
Brown beef in oil.
Transfer to a crock pot with a slotted spoon.
Gradually add consomme to the skillet.
Bring to a boil; stir to loosen browned bits from the pan.
Stir in onions, wine or broth, garlic and dill.
Pour over beef.
Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours or until the meat is nearly tender.

Pour hot water over meat.
Stir in carrots, celery and tomato.
Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours or until meat is tender.

Mix together the sauerkraut, plums, mustard, Ketjap Manis and hotsauce.
Place half the kraut mixture in the bottom of the crock pot, then put in the corned beef and top with remaining kraut mixture.

In large pot heat the oil. When hot add the beef, onions, garlic and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the peppercorns, bay leaves, salt, beef bouillon, the wine and water.
Bring to a boil, lower the heat, cover and let it simmer for about 2 1/2 hours, stirring once a while.
Make sure there is enough liquid in the pot to almost cover the meat.
When finished the beef should be tender and nicely flavored ( thanks to the wine ).
Take out the peppercorn and bay leaves.
Spoon over pasta or potatoes.

New Zealand Corned Beef Hot Pot

Remove the corned beef from its wrapping and discard any liquid and seasoning packet. Rinse in cold water and pat dry with a paper towel. Place in a pot with a tight-fitting lid, that can be used on the stovetop and in the oven.
Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Put the lid on and place in the oven at 250F (or 120C) for 3 hours.
