Stir together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
Add orange juice, orange rind, oil and egg.
Mix well.
Add walnuts and raisins (raisins are chopped to add more sweetening power).
Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls about 1-inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in oven preheated to 375\u00b0 about 15 minutes or until done.
Remove from pan and cool.
Makes about 2 dozen.

American Lasagna

Alternate cooked noodles, Swiss cheese, cottage cheese, American cheese and meat sauce in a dish.

Prepare lasagna noodles according to package.
Brown ground beef; add diced onion and green pepper to meat.
Heat tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce in a saucepan.
Add meat mixture.
Simmer while noodles cook.
In a 9 x 13-inch pan or casserole dish, layer noodles, sauce mixture and American cheese, broken into 1/2-inch strips and Parmesan cheese.
Top this with another layer of noodles, meat and cheese.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 15 minutes until cheese bubbles.

Cook an stir onion in butter in 3-quart saucepan on medium-high heat until tender.
Add potatoes, water, celery and seasonings.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover.
Simmer 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Gradually add small amount of milk to flour, stirring until well blended.
Gradually add flour mixture to hot vegetables, stirring constantly.
Stir in remaining milk and sausage; cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens.

American Turkey Burgers

Mix Ground Turkey, onion powder, garlic salt and B.B.Q. sauce in large bowl.
Shape into 4 patties and and put in fridge covered for 1 hour. (this helps hold the patties together when grilling).

Place patties on grill or B.B.Q. over medium coals.

Lasagna (American Heart Association Recipe)

Cook beef until lightly browned.
Add garlic powder, 1 T parsley, basil, tomatoes, tomato paste and salt to taste; simmer, uncovered, until thick, about 45 minutes.
Combine cottage cheese, eggs, 2 T parsley, parmesan and pepper.
In 13 X 9 pan layer noodles (no need to cook the noodles first), meat sauce, cottage cheese mixture and mozzarella; repeat layers.
Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.

Barbecued Hamburger(American Heart Association Recipe)

Brown meat and onion in a large skillet.
Pour off the fat. Add all ingredients and mix well.
Simmer 20 to 30 minutes, uncovered.
Spoon into hamburger buns.
Yields 6 (1/2 cup) servings.

Lemon Chiffon Pie(From: American Heart Association Cookbook)

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.
Add grated lemon rind and 1/4 cup of the sugar.
Stir well.
Cool until the mixture is the consistency of unbeaten egg whites (about 20 minutes.)
Place nonfat dry milk and ice water in a mixing bowl.
With an electric mixer, beat on high speed 3 to 4 minutes until soft peaks form. Add lemon juice and continue beating.
Add the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar gradually and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Fold into gelatin mixture and combine thoroughly.
Pour into cooled crust.

Delicious And Light Artichoke Dip(From American Heart Association)

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
In an ovenproof dish, combine artichokes, chilies, mayonnaise and all but 2 tablespoons of the Parmesan cheese.
Mix well.
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and bake about 50 minutes or until top is lightly browned.
Serve with fat free cracker or tortilla chips.
