Preheat oven to 250.
Combine first 3 ingrdients in a saucepan on the stovetop. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Place pork in a ovenproof dish and pour onion mixture over top.
Cover and cook for 3 hours or until meat is tender and falling apart.
Sauce can be thickened for a rich onion gravy.
Place pork roast in slow cooker. Combine jam, brown sugar, garlic, vinegar, soy sauce, molasses and chicken broth. Mix well.
Pour over roast. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
Remove roast and sauce from slow cooker. Allow to cool.
Place cooled roast and sauce in freezer bag. Label and freeze.
To serve: thaw. Heat roast and sauce until hot and bubbly. Pull roast into serving pieces (or shred) and serve sauce over rice.

Place pork roast in 3 1/2 -quart slow cooker.

Mix together in the slow cooker the ginger ale, ketchup, brown sugar and molasses.
Add the pork roast and turn to coat.
Mix together in a bowl the vinegars, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce and apricot jam.
Pour over the meat.
Add the sauteed onions and garlic to the slow cooker.
Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
