This is another really old menu.
My aunt, who later became head chef at the Memorial Union at the University of Wisconsin, gave me the salad and dessert recipes way back in the forties.
Fill a large pitcher 3/4 full with crushed ice. Combine cranberry juice, simple syrup, gin, and lemon juice. Serve chilled over ice.
Garnish with cranberry-embellished rosemary sprigs, if desired.
Melt chocolate and add the rest of the ingredients.
Break small pretzels into short links and add as much as you like.
Drop by spoon on waxed paper.
Brown or white chocolate can be used. Directions for melting may be found on package.
Melt butter and oil.
Fold in marshmallows.
When ingredients are melted, pour in peanuts and M&M's.
Pour over popcorn and press into an angel food cake pan.
Let cool.
Turn out on a plate.

Pudding may be
Prepare lime, strawberry and cherry Jell-o using 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water. Pour into separate pans and chill until firm.
Heat 1 cup pineapple juice and 1/4 cup sugar to boiling; remove from heat and add lemon Jell-O powder. Stir until dissolved, then add 1/2 cup cold water. Chill until syrupy.
Prepare whipping cream and fold into syrupy lemon Jell-O. Transfer to large bowl.
Cut lime, strawberry and cherry Jell-O into cubes and gently fold into lemon mixture.
Chill until firm.
Mix dates, nuts and dry ingredients.
Add egg and mix.
Pour into oiled baking dish or pan. Bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes or until firm.
Serve hot or cold with plain or whipped topping. Serves 6 to 8 people.
Very rich dessert.
Mix togeth first 3 ingredients plus 1/3 cup sugar; press into bottom of 9 x 13 inch baking dish.

Cream together cream cheese, and remaining 1/3 cup sugar; fold in cool whip.
Spread onto cooled crust.
Dissolve Jello into hot pineapple juice.

Simple syrup: combine the water and
SIMPLE SYRUP:
Stir together syrup ingredients in a small saucepan; boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally; altogether about 35 minutes until reduced to about 1 1/4 cups syrup.
SPARKLER:
Pour syrup into tall glass, add wine and liqueur; stir, add ice cubes and lemon wedge if desired.
NON-ALCOHOLIC VERSIONS:
Instead of wine, use apple juice or apple cider for a totally different kick. A splash of 7-Up (white) soda will cut the wine nicely, too.
Cut out picture from Christmas card, then with pinking shears, cut construction paper about 1/4 inch larger than the picture. Hold 2 pieces together and punch a hole in the top with hole punch.
Take approximately 4 inches of ribbon, double it over, put the looped end through punched hole and pull the two cut ends through the loop and tighten.
Tie tag to package.
These can be made from any size Christmas card.

While
CHRISTMAS PUDDING:
Mix all ingredients for the Christmas Pudding together well.
Put into 1-pound coffee cans or other cans that have been greased.
Put a piece of foil over the top securely.
Set cans in water and steam for 3 hours, watching that the water does not boil away.
Serve with Sherry Sauce on top of each piece.
SHERRY SAUCE:
Beat eggs well.
Put sugar and butter in a bowl and work with fingers.
Add the beaten eggs and then beat again with mixer.
Add the sherry and mix well.
