Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Have ready 2 8-x4-inch loaf pans.
Mix all ingredients (except sauce ingredients) together. Divide among loaf pans. (It may also be made in a 9- x 13-inch pan.).
Bake 1 hour in preheated oven. Remove from oven and pour the sauce over the tops of the loaves. Return to oven and continue baking 1/2 hour longer.
To make sauce: Combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring to make sure everything is combined well and sugar is melted.
