Iowa Maid-Rites ( Loose Meat Sandwiches )

After frying hamburger and draining it, mix in all the soup mixes and simmer to blend flavors,about an hour would do.
Ladle on top of hamburger buns and treat them like you would a sloppy joe.
Any left over meat is great for taco and burrito filler.

Cook the beef, salt and pepper until done; drain, then add the Coke.
Steam well.
Brown onions on side.
Serve on bun with catsup, mustard, pickle and fried onions.

Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned, crumbling even more as it cooks. Drain off the grease. Stir in the onion soup mix and French onion soup. Cover, and simmer over low heat for about 2 hours, or you may transfer to a slow cooker for this part.
To serve, spoon onto hamburger buns like a sloppy Joe.

Sun-Maid Raisin Nut Cake(Our Family Christmas Cake Since 1936)

Cream butter with brown sugar.
Add molasses, beaten eggs and buttermilk, in which the soda has been dissolved.
Mix and sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves.
Add to this dry mixture the Sun-Maid raisins (cut in pieces) and walnuts (coarsely chopped).
Combine dry ingredients with the first mixture.
Bake in 3 layers in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for about 25 minutes.
When cool, cover with your favorite icing.
I use Caramel Icing.

Brown ground beef and onion in large skillet. Drain off fat. Add flour, water, salt & pepper. Cook for 5 minutes to thicken. Add ketchup and mustard. Simmer for 15 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.

Cook hamburger in double boiler. This steam cooks it--not fry. Cook for at least 2 hours on top of stove. I put mine in a crock pot on high until it starts to cook, then on low for 6 to 8 hours. Stir off and on.

Combine rice, sugar, milk, and salt in a 6-cup baking dish.
Bake in a moderately slow oven (325 degrees) 2 hours, until rice is very soft, stirring every 20 minutes.
Stir in vanilla and raisins, sprinkle with cinnamon, bake without stirring until a light golden crust forms, about 15 minutes longer.

1 Brown and drain hamburger. Add diced onions and saute until they are translucent. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer a couple of minutes. Serve loosely on buns. Top with mustard, catsup, onions, dill pickles or your own favorite topping!
2 SERVING SUGGESTION: Provide each dining guest with a spoon, to scoop up all that tasty loose beef that spills out of the bun and onto the plate! Enjoy!

Iowa Pork Chops

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt on pork chops and brown them in the shortening in a skillet.
Transfer to casserole dish (along with pan drippings).
Mix together other ingredients and add to dish. Cover dish and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
Uncover dish and continue to bake for approximately another 1/2 hour and then enjoy an Iowa pork chop dinner.

Iowa Pork Chops

In a bowl, combine ingredients, except chops, until well mixed. Cut a slit in the side of chop and stuff with mixture.
Combine basting sauce ingredients and blend until smooth.
In frying pan, brown stuffed chops, then bake at 350* oven for about one hour, basting chops often with sauce.

Grilled Stuffed Iowa Pork Chops

Have butcher cut pocket in pork chops.
Fill mixture in pocket.
Insert toothpicks to hold pocket together.
Combine butter, parsley, lemon juice, wine and salt.
Place chops on grill.
Cook about 7 minutes on each side, basting frequently with sauce.
Makes 6 servings.
