Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream together butter, shortening, sugars; add eggs, vanilla and maple extract.
To the creamy mixture add peanut butter and applesauce; set aside.
Next sift flours & spices together and gradually add to the creamy mixture.
Last add the oatmeal, cereal, raisins and nuts; mix well.
Refrigerate cookie dough for 1 hour.
Drop cookie dough by tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until done, depending on your oven.
Place all ingredients except for Reddi-wip in a microwave-safe bowl.
Add 1/4 cup water and stir.
Microwave for 45 seconds, stir, and then continue to cook in the microwave for 30 - 40 seconds.
Once oatmeal has thickened, remove bowl from the microwave.
Add the Reddi-wip, and stir well. Then enjoy the best bowl of oatmeal you've EVER tasted!

Dump all ingredients in an 8 x 8 casserole dish or pie pan; stir well; cover and put in the refrigerator overnight.
In the morning, preheat the oven to 425 degrees and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top starts to brown; serve hot, with milk over it if desired.

Thank goodness we were biking our way through the San Juan Islands when we found this recipe for a local delicacy at the tourist office in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
Place unbroken beans lengthwise in pint jars; leave 1/4-inch at top.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to each jar.
Also add 1 clove garlic and 1 head of dill to each jar.
Combine remaining ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil.
Pour approximately 1/2 cup of boiling ingredients over beans in jars (needs to cover beans).
Put on lids and put in hot water bath for 10 minutes. Store on shelf for a few weeks to enjoy full flavor.
Serve chilled.

Heat the oil in a large saucepan and cook the onion and garlic over low heat for 6-7 mins until softened. Add the rice mix and cook, stirring for 1 min. Pour in the wine and simmer for a few mins then gradually add the stock, about 1 ladleful at a time. Allow the liquid to be absorbed by the rice before adding the next ladleful. This will take about 35 mins.
Stir in the butter and Parmesan cheese and season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve in warm, shallow bowls.
