Mix 7up, egg, pancake mix, and sugar.
Individually dip fish into batter and then gently place in oil.
Fry about 5 pieces at a time. Oil should be at a simmer when fish is cooking. Fry on both sides until golden.
Drain on paper towels.

Dip in marinade and re-coat if desired.
Let stand 30 minutes, re-coat in corn meal mixture.
Lower into preheated deep fryer at 360\u00b0 and cook until fish floats.
Serve with onion slices, lemon pepper or tartar sauce.

Combine the garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne in a bowl. Place the flour in a shallow dish. Pat the chops dry with paper towels.
