Wayne's Chili
Mix 4 1/2 cups sugar with one (1)

Use regular bread setting, medium crust, 1 1/2 lb loaf.
You want the eggs at room temperature. Add enough water to the eggs to equal 1 1/3 cups.
Bake in bread machine according to its instructions on the 2 lb. whole wheat setting.

Special Notes: The recipe calls for 2 tsp of yeast, but I find this way too much yeast- blows the top off the machine!
This makes a 1 1/2 lb loaf which basically fills my 2 lb machine.
DO use pure vanilla extract for best results.
If you don't have the time to soak the raisins ahead of time (I never do) just microwave the raisins and vanilla for 1 minute on high or med-high in a micro-safe bowl.

This recipe came with my Betty Crocker ABM and it's my favorite.
After reading the review, it prompts me to mention that I often take loaves out of my machine a little early because I don't care for hard crusts either. I then take some milk and pour it over the sides of the bread, about 1 tbs. at a time. Butter works well too. This softens the crust a little.
Follow your breadmaker's instructions regarding how to add ingredients. My breadmaker requests me to do the following:
Add liquids to the bread pan first, then dry. Level the dry; quarter the butter and add to corners. Make an impression in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yeast.
If bread collapses during the baking period, next time add 1 or 1 1/2 tablespoons vital wheat gluten to the recipe to prevent from happening again.
I set my bread maker to 'whole wheat', 'light crust', '2 lb loaf'.
