Boil head of cabbage, removing leaves as they become tender.
In a bowl, mix meat, onion, garlic and salt.
Form meat mixture into oval shapes (about 1/3 cup each) and wrap in cabbage leaf.
Place stuffed cabbages in dutch oven. Pour can of tomato juice over them. They should all be covered with juice.
Bakes for 1-1/2 to 2 hours at 375F deg until bubbly and juice has reduced.
Fry onion in a little butter until soft.
Add meat and brown. Add cooked rice; let cool.
Boil water in a large pan.
Steam cabbage in water and cut off leaves, 1 at a time.
Drain on towel. Cut off thick part at the bottom of leaf.
Put 1 to 2 tablespoons of filling in bottom of leaf, fold over both sides and roll.
Line bottom of baking dish with scraps of cabbage.
Use cut up core and small leaves for cover.
Add can of tomato sauce or tomatoes, even soup.
Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Wilt cabbage leaves in boiling water and set aside.
Brown ground meat and onions.
Add rice, sweet pepper, salt and pepper to taste.
Simmer for a few minutes.
Place a small amount of mixture in middle of wilted cabbage leaves and roll up to form a ball. Place the formed cabbage leaves in bottom of large pot and pour tomatoes over the cabbages and cook over medium heat for approximately 1 hour.
