Cook beans in 3 to 4 quarts of water with soup bone, onion, clove of garlic, can green chilies and tomatoes, salt and pepper.
Cook until beans are done, 2 to 4 hours.
Sprinkle with grated cheese and serve with hot buttered cornbread.
Drain green beans.

Drain water chestnuts and spread on top of green bean-soup mixture.
Microwave on High 5 to 7 minutes until heated through and bubbly around the edges. Top with French fried onion rings.
Microwave on High 2 to 3 minutes.
Combine all of the beans.
Mix well.
Yield: 20 cups.
Divide into 10 portions (2 cups each).

In a large pot over medium heat, combine green beans, garlic, parsley, salt and water to cover and cook until beans are tender.
Fry bacon until crisp, set aside. Add onion and flour to bacon grease, stirring until smooth and brown. Add some water from the beans, stirring slowly and constantly to prevent lumps.
