Lightly oil a 9 x 9-inch cake pan. Measure applesauce into mixing bowl.
Add oil and sugar.
Measure out flour.
Add spices and soda; stir to mix, then add to applesauce mixture.
Stir well.
Add chocolate chips and raisins and stir some more.
Scrape into cake pan.
Lick spoon.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
(This cake keeps well even if not eaten right away.)

Reduce oven
Sift flour, spices, soda and salt 3 times in order to mix thoroughly.
Cream shortening well and gradually blend in sugar. Beat in egg with the applesauce.
Add flour mixture gradually, beating after each addition until well blended.
Wash raisins and stir into mixture.
Pour into a greased loaf pan 5 x 9 x 3-inches. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
You may use this recipe for muffins or sheet cake.
For cake it is very good with caramel icing.
Beat shortening, sugar and egg together.
Stir in applesauce (just a little).
Add flour, salt, spices, soda and raisins.
Add as much candied fruit, dates and nuts as you wish for fruit cake. For the cake with all the fruit, line your loaf pans with wax paper and grease well.
Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
In a 9 x 12-inch greased and floured pan.
Test in 1/2 hour.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Beat in applesauce.
Combine flour, soda and spices and stir into creamed mixture.
Blend in raisins and nuts.
Pour into greased and floured bread and cake pan and cover.
Place in crock-pot; cover and bake on high setting for 2 1/2 t 4 hours.
Makes 24 servings. Recipe for 5-quart crock-pot.
In crockpot combine all ingredients and cook on low 3 1/2 hours.
Stir every 1/2 hour.

Combine baking potatoes, onion, chicken broth, garlic, butter, salt and pepper in a large crockpot.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 8 hours (potatoes should be tender).
Mash mixture until potatoes are coarsely chopped and soup is slightly thickened.
Stir in cream, cheddar cheese and chives.
Top with sour cream (if using); sprinkle with bacon and more cheese.
Heat the oil in a large saucepan and cook the onion and garlic over low heat for 6-7 mins until softened. Add the rice mix and cook, stirring for 1 min. Pour in the wine and simmer for a few mins then gradually add the stock, about 1 ladleful at a time. Allow the liquid to be absorbed by the rice before adding the next ladleful. This will take about 35 mins.
Stir in the butter and Parmesan cheese and season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve in warm, shallow bowls.
