A Basic Recipe For Cream Pies(Recipe From General Foods, Unpublished) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
    2 c. milk
    1/2 c. sugar (for coconut, pineapple or banana pie)
    1/4 c. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. whipping cream
    1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
Preparation
    Blend egg yolks with tablespoon of milk.
    Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a medium saucepan; gradually add remaining milk, stirring until smooth.
    Bring to a full boil over medium heat and boil one minute; stir constantly.
    Remove from heat and gradually stir in egg yolks; beat until smooth.
    Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for 2 minutes; stir constantly.
    Remove from heat and pour into bowl.
    Stir in butter and vanilla and cool.
    Whip chilled cream until soft peaks will firm; fold into mixture and spoon into pie shell.
