Preheat oven to 375 deg F.
Combine shortening and sugar, cream.
Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
Sift together dry ingredients, and slowly blend in.
Mix well.
Add nuts, cherries or raisins and mix well.
Shape into balls using a level teaspoon of dough for each cookie.
Roll ball in crushed cornflakes.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Top with 1/2 cherry and press the cherry down a bit.
Bake at 375 deg F for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.

Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
Add to flour mixture.
Add chopped nuts and milk or cherry juice.

Place one on top of each cookie.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.

In a bowl, mix all ingredients together, adding just enough liquid to make a stiff dough.
Drop from teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Optional:
Either place chopped cherries or cherry halves on small indentation in middle of cookie or mix all cherries (chopped) in dough.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes. Remove and cool on rack.

Bake on greased cookie sheet, after topping each cookie with 1/4 cherry at 375\u00b0 for 15 minutes.

Christmas Cherry Winks

Cream first 2 ingredients then beat in egg.
Mix vanilla, lemon peel and milk into the creamed mixture.
Mix flour, baking powder, soda and salt and add to wet mix.
Stir in the raisins and walnuts.
Roll into balls then in crushed corn flakes.
Put half a cherry on top of each cookie, pushing down a bit.
Bake 10-15 minutes in 350 oven.
