Cherry Winks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 Tbsp. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 jar maraschino cherries, divided (1/3 c. chopped/rest quartered)
    crushed corn flakes
Preparation
    Blend dry ingredients; set aside.
    Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, then milk and vanilla; mix well.
    Add pecans, dates and 1/3 cup chopped cherries.
    Blend in dry ingredients, mixing well. Roll approximately 1 teaspoon dough into ball and coat with corn flakes by rolling.
    Bake on greased cookie sheet, after topping each cookie with 1/4 cherry at 375\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
