Cherry Winks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    2 unbeaten eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
    1 small jar maraschino cherries
    2 Tbsp. milk or 1 Tbsp. maraschino cherry juice
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
    Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
    Add to flour mixture.
    Add chopped nuts and milk or cherry juice.
    Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
    Cut cherries in half.
    Place one on top of each cookie.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
