Place cookies on wax paper and prepare icing. Icing should be a thick paste. If icing is too thin add more confectioners sugar; if too thick add more water.
Fill the indents in each cookie with icing. Icing will harden.

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Line 3 large baking trays with parchment paper. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add flour and 1 tbsp water and stir until combined. Shape into 35 small balls and chill for 30 mins, or until firm.
Distribute chilled balls between prepared trays and bake for 18-20 mins, or until cookies are golden at edges. Immediately press a chocolate button into the center of each hot cookie. Let cool for 5 mins. Serve cookies warm, or cool completely on trays.
