Cut ends off the string beans and rinse with cold water.
Fill a large pot 1/2 way with water until boiling.
Add string beans and parboil 10 to 12 minutes until cooked, but not real soft. Remove and drain.
In large frying pan, cover bottom about 1/4-inch with olive oil and heat.
Add garlic and string beans and fry on medium heat, mixing all ingredients together.
When almost done, add bread crumbs and mix briefly and serve.

Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add onion and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, 8 minutes or until soft.
Add tomatoes, thyme, sugar, salt and pepper, breaking up tomatoes with back of spoon.
Stir in string beans; simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, 25 to 35 minutes or until tender.
(Can be made a day ahead and refrigerated.)
Serve hot or warm.
Melt butter in pan.
Add string beans and mushrooms.
Chop garlic and onion.
Add white wine and cheese.
Add salt, pepper and oregano to taste.

Let stand at room temperature for an hour or cover and refrigerate for up to 8 hours before serving.
Serve at room temperature.

Add the sugar.
Cook frozen string beans and drain. Add to first mixture.
Season with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Mix and cook another 5 minutes.
