Sift together dry ingredients.
In separate bowl, combine shortening, sugar, extract, molasses and eggs.
Add dry ingredients.
Add hot water last.
Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet.
Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
Dissolve yeast in 1 cup water.
Mix rest of water with molasses and salt in a large bowl.
Mix rye flour, cocoa and caraway seed together.
Add yeast and melted butter and 1/2 of the flour.
Beat until smooth.
Knead in remaining flour until smooth and elastic.
Cover and let rise until double.
Punch down.
Shape into loaves and let rise again until double.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 375\u00b0.
Makes 2 loaves.
Crumb Part:
Combine dry ingredients except baking soda and work in the shortening to make crumbs.
Cream shortening and sugar; add other ingredients in order given.
Work to soften dough.
Put in refrigerator overnight. Roll to about 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut into desired shapes and bake in moderate oven, 400\u00b0 for about 10 minutes.
Great recipe for cut out cookies.
Mix in order with flour enough to make a stiff dough.
Chill. Roll out and cut with the shaped cutter of your choice.
Bake about 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.
In a large bowl mix all the ingredients together very well.
Place a hand full of the mixture a cutting board and roll out or pinch together to the thickness of a bread stick.
If the mixture is too wet just add more quick oats or bread crumbs.
Cut into 2' sections and place on lightly greased baking sheets.
Preheat the oven at 375 and bake for 20 minutes or until there is no pink.
Serve as a side dish with salad and rice or with spaghetti sauce and pasta.

For molasses glaze: In medium bowl combine molasses, bottled hot pepper sauce, ginger,
Heat the oil in a large saucepan and cook the onion and garlic over low heat for 6-7 mins until softened. Add the rice mix and cook, stirring for 1 min. Pour in the wine and simmer for a few mins then gradually add the stock, about 1 ladleful at a time. Allow the liquid to be absorbed by the rice before adding the next ladleful. This will take about 35 mins.
Stir in the butter and Parmesan cheese and season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve in warm, shallow bowls.
Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy in a large mixing bowl; add egg, beating well.
Gradually add molasses, mixing well.
Combine remaining ingredients, except additional sugar; add to sugar mixture, mixing well.
Chill until dough can be easily rolled into 1-inch balls.
Roll each ball in sugar; place on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350\u00b0F for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
(Do not substitute syrup for molasses).
For the dry mix: Combine all
ver medium heat and boil for 2 minutes; stir constantly.
Make recipe for 2 pie crusts.
Put in a 9 x 13-inch pan. Layer ham, then onion, then Swiss cheese over pie crust.
Mix eggs, cream and spices.
Pour over layered pie crust.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour or until set.
