ring water and margarine to boil in 2 qt sauce
Cream sugar and butter together well.
Sift together dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt).
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
Add lemon extract.
Fold in nuts, which have been rolled in flour.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture.
Pour into three 8-inch round, greased and floured cake pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 approximately 20 minutes or until cake springs back to touch.

Drop by tablespoons into hot oil (approximately 1 cup of oil is needed).
Fry until golden brown.
Turn over once. Place on paper towel to drain excess oil.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Pour warm water into bread machine pan with agave/honey and yeast. Let rest until froth forms (~8 minutes).
Mix dry ingredients separately. Addition of cinnamon is added for its natural preservative nature and not for taste. More shakes will add a different taste to the bread.
After froth forms add dry ingredients to bread machine and set on basic (white bread) setting on light crust.
I like to prepare this with my Kitchenaid
Chop apples coarsely in a large bowl (we have always used a double bladed chopper and a wooden bowl).
Use a food processor to chop the other fruits and nuts (obviously this was done by hand originally, but the processor makes it soooooo much easier).
Add all the ingredients to the apples and chop very well to blend.
Stir together 1 1/2 cups flour and yeast.
Heat milk, water, oil, sugar and salt over low heat until very warm (120\u00b0 to 130\u00b0). (Too hot will \"kill\" yeast.)
Add liquid ingredients to flour-yeast mixture and beat until smooth.
Add eggs and beat about 3 minutes.
Stir in more flour to make a moderately soft dough.
Mix together the oil, eggs, sugar and vanilla.
Sift together the baking soda, flour, cinnamon and salt.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Add the apples, raisins (optional) and the walnuts.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour or more.
