Pound the chilis and garlic together in a mortar with a pestle. Add the bean and lightly crush. Add the tomatoes, sugar, roasted peanuts, dried shrimp, lime juice, lime wedges, and fish sauce to the mortar and gently mix together until the sugar has dissolved.

Combine sliced strawberries and strawberry syrup in a medium bowl; stir gently.
Prepare Strawberry Whipped Cream: Beat whipping cream with strawberry syrup until stiff. Serve immediately.
For each serving, top a shortcake with strawberry mixture and strawberry whipped cream.

Put apples, cranberries, water, sugar, cinnamon and salt in saucepan; bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer until apples are tender.
Bake shortcake in two 8-inch layers.
Put hot apple mix between layers and on top of hot shortcake.
Cut into wedges and serve with whipped cream, if desired.

Using a sharp knife, gently split shortcake horizontally into two layers; lift off top carefully.
