Apple Cranberry Shortcake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 c. thinly sliced eating apples
1 c. fresh cranberries
1/4 c. water
2/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
dash of salt
shortcake mixture (using 3 c. biscuit mix)
whipped cream (optional)
Preparation

Put apples, cranberries, water, sugar, cinnamon and salt in saucepan; bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer until apples are tender.
Bake shortcake in two 8-inch layers.
Put hot apple mix between layers and on top of hot shortcake.
Cut into wedges and serve with whipped cream, if desired.
Serves 6.
