Ingredients

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1/4 c. molasses
Preparation

Beat all ingredients for 2 minutes.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0 with rack in center position.
Roll chilled dough into walnut size balls and place 2-inches apart.
Bake until the tops are dry 12 to 15 minutes.
Cool on wire racks.
Makes 3 dozen cookies.
