Ingredients

1 c. raisins
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. soda
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cook raisins in enough water so that there will be 1 cup liquid left.
To this liquid, add the shortening.
Sift dry ingredients, except for soda, and to this add raisins, then liquid.
Add well-beaten egg, then nuts.
Lastly add soda to small amount of water and add to batter.
Bake in greased and floured shallow pan at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
While still warm, cover with a powdered sugar glaze.
