Tom Thumb Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. flour
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. coconut
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine shortening and salt.
    Add 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 cup flour.
    Press into an 8 x 12 x 2-inch pan.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Add 1 cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla to beaten eggs.
    Beat until thick and foamy.
    Add 2 tablespoons flour, baking powder, salt, coconut and nuts.
    Mix well.
    Spread over baked mixture.
    Return to oven and bake an additional 25 minutes.
    Cool.
