"Rocks"(Christmas Cookies) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs, beaten smooth
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    pinch of salt
    1 scant tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. hot water
    1 lb. coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
    1 lb. raisins
    1 lb. coarsely chopped dates
    1 c. candied cherries (use 1/2 green and 1/2 red)
Preparation
    Cream
    the
    butter
    and
    sugar.
    Add
    the
    eggs.
    Sift together the flour,
    cinnamon,
    cloves and salt and add to the butter-sugar-egg mixture.
    Dissolve the baking soda in the hot water and add
    to
    the mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients. Foil line and grease a cookie sheet.
    Drop batter by teaspoonfuls. Bake at

    for
    12 minutes or until nicely browned. Makes a gross (144 cookies).
