Mormor'S Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter, melted
    1 egg
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    2 3/4 c. bread flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over dates and soda.
    Let stand for 10 minutes.
    Mix sugar, butter, egg and vanilla together until creamy.
    Mix flour and salt.
    Strain juice off dates and add alternately with flour and salt mix.
    Add dates and nuts last. Place in 2 well-greased bread pans.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for one hour or more.
    Or, place in 4 small loaf pans and bake at 325\u00b0 for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
    Serves 24.
