Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs, separated
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Cream the shortening, sugar and egg yolks in large bowl until light and fluffy.
Sift flour, salt and soda.
Add lemon juice to milk.
Add dry ingredients and liquid, alternately to creamed mixture.
Beat in the vanilla.
Bake for 5 to 7 minutes, or until light brown.
