Orange Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 orange, peeled and diced
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening or oil
    1 egg, well beaten
    3 c. sifted flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Combine orange peel, sugar and water; boil and then simmer for 10 to 15 minutes to make a thin syrup.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    Add beaten egg to mixture and enough water to make 2 cups of liquid. Add shortening; then add to flour mixture.
    Mix well and then pour into a greased, floured 9 x 9-inch or loaf pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
