White Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. milk
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt, divided into 1/4 tsp.
3 Tbsp. sugar
2 yeast cakes
3 c. flour
Preparation

Scald 2 cups milk; remove from heat.
Add 2 eggs, two 1/4 teaspoons salt and 3 tablespoons sugar.
Cool to lukewarm.
Soften 2 yeast cakes to the milk mixture; beat thoroughly.
Gradually stir in 3 cups flour to make dough that handles easily.
Turn onto floured board; knead until smooth, adding more flour if needed. Place dough in greased bowl; brush with 2 tablespoons melted shortening.
Cover; let rise in warm place 2 to 3 hours, until doubled.
Punch down, knead and shape into loaves.
Place loaves in well-greased pans.
Brush with melted shortening.
Cover; let rise until double in bulk.
Bake in hot oven at 375\u00b0 for about 20 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350\u00b0 and bake about 45 minutes longer. Yields approximately 2 loaves.
