Squaw Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. lukewarm water
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1 Tbsp. lard
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    flour
Preparation
    Mix water, dry yeast, lard, salt and sugar together, then add flour until thick.
    Turn out on floured surface.
    Knead and work a little more flour into it.
    Do not make real stiff.
    Make into balls a little bigger than a black plum and stretch it out to about 2 inches thick or less.
    Let rise until double in size and fry in hot grease until brown on both sides.
    (Good eaten with butter and sometimes roll in sugar.)
