Boston Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    3/4 c. dark molasses
    2 1/4 c. whole wheat flour
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 3/4 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. seedless raisins
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Beat in egg and molasses.
    Beat in remaining ingredients.
    Spoon into 2 well-greased 1 quart molds, filling a little more than half full.
    Cover with foil. Set molds on rack in deep kettle and add boiling water to come halfway up sides of molds.
    Cover and steam for 2 1/2 hours. Replace boiling water to keep up level of liquid.
