Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 tsp. cloves
2 Tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. chopped nuts
1 lb. chopped dates
Preparation

Cream the softened butter and sugar; add eggs.
Sift dry ingredients with flour.
Add buttermilk and flour alternately. Add vanilla; mix well.
Fold in nuts and dates.
Dough will be stiff.
Drop by teaspoonful onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for approximately 10 minutes.
Makes 7 or 8 dozen cookies.
