Ingredients
-
2 c. granulated sugar
2 tsp. cocoa (not heaping)
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk (whole or skim)
1 Tbsp. butter
1 c. peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
2 large Tbsp. marshmallows or marshmallow cream (marshmallows optional)
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla
Preparation
-
Mix the dry ingredients in a two-quart saucepan.
Add milk and stir.
Place on medium heat.
Stir constantly until it begins to boil.
Do not stir while boiling.
Allow to boil 10 to 15 minutes. As mixture boils low in pan, place a very small (tiny) amount of mixture in 1/2 ounce of cold water.
When it forms a soft ball, the fudge is done.
Keep testing to avoid overcooking.
Remove from heat.
Allow to stand for about 5 minutes.
Add butter, peanut butter and marshmallows.
Beat by hand until starts to thicken.
Add vanilla.
Beat until it turns from shiny to dull. Do not overbeat as it will become sugary.
Pour into a buttered platter or container of your choice.
Allow to cool at room temperature.
Cut in squares and serve.
