Overnight Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. white sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. nuts, chopped
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 lb. dates
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Mix the first 7 ingredients as for cookies.
    Cook and let cool. Mix the next 3 ingredients; cook until thick.
    Roll out dough 1/4-inch thick; spread with date mixture.
    Roll like a jelly roll. Refrigerate overnight.
    Slice and bake.
