1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. softened butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries (reserve cherry juice)
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. Borden's sweetened condensed milk

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Makes 2 dozen.
Cook 7 to 10 minutes.
Mix flour, cocoa, salt, powder and soda in small bowl.
In separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla and beat well; gradually add dry mixture and mix well (set aside).
In pan over low heat, melt together juice from the maraschino cherries, chocolate chips and the Borden's milk, then remove from heat after mixture thickens.
Make 1/2-inch balls out of cookie mixture; place on cookie sheets.
Press thumb in the middle of each cookie and put 1 cherry in center, then pour 1/1/2 teaspoons of chocolate mixture over cherry and cook for 7 to 10 minutes.
